Reasearch Interests
The goal of my PhD project is to calculate the inclusive decay rate of the tau-lepton into hadrons, which is of phenomenological relevance, for example, in the determination of the CKM-matrix elements. To compare with experimental values we need a high-precision calculation of this observable, which requires the inclusion of isospin-breaking corrections that were neglected in previous studies. These corrections arise due to the mass difference of the quarks and because of the coupling to QED. The reduction of the symmetry leads to a more complicated renormalization pattern. As the decay rate is a real-time process its computation also necessitates the usage of spectral reconstruction methods.
